New Delhi/Bengaluru, Sep 8 (NationPress) In light of the violent events that transpired in Maddur town, located in Mandya district of Karnataka, during the Ganesh Visarjan, Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy attributed the root cause of the violence to the actions of the Congress-led government.
Kumaraswamy, who serves as the representative for the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency, addressed the media in Delhi, asserting, "The primary factor leading to such a significant occurrence in our district and throughout the state is the governance of the Congress-led administration. Under the Congress rule, a scenario has emerged where the Hindu community feels aggrieved. Such incidents are happening daily."
Since the Congress party assumed power in Karnataka, they have been accused of exacerbating tensions within the Hindu community. Kumaraswamy stated that on one hand, Hindus are feeling marginalized, while on the other, the Congress party is seen as a catalyst for conflict between different communities.
"My statements are not politically motivated. If one examines the current state, previously, incidents like these were confined to only one or two districts during the Ganesh procession. Now, such violence is reported from every corner of the state, and the Congress party bears the responsibility," Kumaraswamy commented.
Following the stone-pelting incident, thousands gathered in Maddur. He warned Congress leaders that they are engaging in a 'suicide mission' that could lead to their downfall if they do not change their course.
During the Ganesh Visarjan procession, it was reported that two to three individuals threw stones in Maddur. A similar situation had occurred in Nagamangala town of Mandya district, where tension had escalated, and now this year, it has recurred in Maddur.
Kumaraswamy urged the residents of Maddur and the Mandya district to refrain from escalating tensions or allowing violence to take hold. He emphasized that Karnataka has long been known as a harmonious state for all religions, and there appears to be a systematic effort to incite communal discord. He noted that such violence had never before been a part of Mandya's history.
The peaceful lifestyle of the Mandya district residents has been disrupted, and such incidents can lead to serious consequences. He reiterated his plea to the community to avoid any provocations.
Earlier today, Kumaraswamy communicated with the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police (SP), urging them to implement necessary measures to maintain peace and order. He appealed to the mothers of Maddur to ensure that no property is harmed and no lives are lost during their protests.
On Monday, tension was palpable in Maddur following the stone-pelting incident during a Ganesh procession, resulting in six injuries. The incident, which occurred on Sunday night, led to the arrest of 21 individuals.
The situation escalated further on Monday as protestors, including women, voiced their opposition to the violence during the Ganesh Visarjan in Maddur, prompting the police to impose prohibitory measures in the area until Tuesday morning (September 9).
