Bengaluru, Sep 13 (NationPress) The BJP's Karnataka unit has lashed out at the Congress-led administration, asserting that it is instigating numerous controversies surrounding the Ganesh festival celebrations.
During a press conference on Saturday at the BJP State Office, Jagannath Bhavan in Bengaluru, the Opposition Leader in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, remarked that the government is more intimidated by minorities than it is supportive of them, claiming it lacks the authority to manage them.
This, he argues, is why the state government is igniting disputes by restricting the Ganesh festivities.
While the Congress government professes to advocate for minorities, Narayanaswamy criticized that it simultaneously engages in caste-based politics out of fear. He noted that, traditionally, Ganeshotsava has been observed without disturbances. "The Chief Minister is retracting criminal cases against minorities for political gain and trying to portray them as peace ambassadors, which is undermining harmony statewide," he alleged.
Narayanaswamy contended that the Constitution is not meant to favor or belittle any demographic. "The government should strive to advance everyone equitably. However, this administration is anti-Hindutva," asserted the BJP leader.
He further accused the government of establishing unwritten directives instructing police not to permit Ganesh festival celebrations across various taluks and districts while disseminating circulars that discourage such festivities. He questioned, “What gives you the right to deny permission? What authority do you hold?”
He asked if it is justifiable for the government to suppress its citizens.
Narayanaswamy also criticized the government's level of minority favoritism, citing the renaming of the Shivajinagar Metro Station in Bengaluru to St. Mary’s Metro Station. He challenged the government’s claim that Shivaji was not from Karnataka.
He inquired: “Who is St. Mary? Does she belong to Shivajinagar or Karnataka?”
He insisted that the government should prioritize the people's wishes rather than deceive them. He believes the government is straying from the correct course and must adhere to the Constitution.
Additionally, he expressed sorrow over the tragic loss of 9 lives during the Ganesh Visarjan procession in Hassan district. He noted that BJP leaders R. Ashoka, C.T. Ravi, and others visited the site, but he was unable to do so for unavoidable reasons.
