Pune, April 11 (NationPress) The Congress party has called for a culpable homicide case to be lodged against the trust board of Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, along with a comprehensive SIT investigation led by a retired judge, concerning the demise of a pregnant woman, Tanisha Bhise.

Maharashtra Congress president Harshwardhan Sapkal insisted on the dissolution of the hospital's board of directors, advocating for government intervention to take control of the facility.

“Tanisha Bhise tragically lost her life after Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune denied her treatment due to financial constraints. This hospital, which is supposed to be charitable, has breached its own agreements, yet the government remains inactive in pursuing accountability. There seems to be a deliberate attempt to shield those accountable at the hospital. The board should be disbanded, and the hospital should be taken over by the government. A culpable homicide case must be initiated against the trust board, and a thorough SIT investigation is essential,” Sapkal stated.

The Congress leader remarked to reporters, “The enchanting voice of Lata Mangeshkar once captivated all, but now we are left wondering, ‘What has become of you?’ This incident is profoundly tragic. A pregnant woman was forced to wait for over five hours and was denied treatment due to her financial situation. To ensure a complete investigation, the hospital's CCTV footage must be secured. Additionally, the CDRs (call detail records) of both the deceased's husband and hospital director Dr. Dhananjay Kelkar should be acquired. Charges should have been filed immediately, yet the government continues to procrastinate.”

“What occurred at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital is inhumane and an affront to humanity. Despite such a serious incident, the hospital administration and medical staff exhibit no remorse. There are suspicions that the administration is attempting to suppress this incident. The entire situation is deeply disheartening. If such events can happen while we celebrate the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, it is profoundly saddening,” alleged Sapkal.

Previously, Congress Legislature Party leader Vijay Wadettiwar labeled the Mangeshkar family as a “gang of looters” that has never contributed positively to society. “The Mangeshkar family is a disgrace to humanity. They are a gang of looters. Have you ever heard of them donating for social causes? They were praised only for their singing talent. The individual who donated land for the hospital was not treated well. Taking advantage of establishing a charity hospital and exploiting the poor must cease,” he asserted.

In response, Deputy Chief Minister and NCP President Ajit Pawar voiced his strong disapproval of Wadettiwar’s remarks. “It is known worldwide what the Mangeshkar family has contributed, and they are respected. No one should speak in such a manner,” he stated.

Additionally, state NCP chief Sunil Tatkare remarked, “Master Dinanath Mangeshkar, Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Lata Didi, Ashatai Bhosale, and the entire Mangeshkar family have significantly contributed to enhancing our country’s reputation globally through their artistry. In this context, Wadettiwar’s comments are certainly inappropriate for an Indian citizen. I urge Wadettiwar to make responsible statements.”
