Gadag (Karnataka), May 22 (NationPress) The Union Minister for Food, Public Distribution, and Consumer Affairs, along with senior BJP member, Pralhad Joshi, has revealed that a particular faction within the Congress party has supplied information to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) aimed at initiating action against Karnataka's Home Minister, G. Parameshwara.
Answering questions from the media in Gadag on Thursday concerning the ED's raid on an educational institution associated with Parameshwara, Minister Joshi stated that the ED is performing its duties based on this tip-off.
He mentioned that even Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is aware of the Congress leaders who provided this information to the ED.
"Despite being aware of all this, they are now staging a performance," he claimed.
"Parameshwara is a respectable politician, and we hold him in high regard. Our government has no intentions of targeting him. However, once information is received, the ED will proceed accordingly, irrespective of the individual involved," he clarified.
Joshi further accused a specific group within Congress of orchestrating events ranging from gold smuggling to recent occurrences, alleging that this group continuously relays information to the ED.
"This is something that CM Siddaramaiah is well aware of. If he claims otherwise, he should utilize his own intelligence network to verify," added Union Minister Joshi.
"The public is aware of who was responsible for Parameshwara's defeat in 2013. It is no secret that Siddaramaiah conspired against him. History cannot simply be erased," he remarked.
The Union Minister emphasized that the ED's operations were not influenced by Parameshwara's status as Home Minister or as a member of Congress.
"If anyone breaks the law, be it myself, Parameshwara, Siddaramaiah, or anyone from our party, the ED will act without hesitation. No one will be exempt," he asserted.
"It's inappropriate to politicize ED actions. Those guilty must face the legal repercussions. If we start disclosing the misdeeds of your own party members, it could lead to further complications for you," Union Minister Joshi cautioned Siddaramaiah.
Responding to the state government's directive regarding the establishment of Jan Aushadhi centers in government hospitals, Joshi queried, "They profess to provide free medications in government hospitals, but are all necessary medicines genuinely available without charge in every facility?"
He criticized the state government's choice, stating that in a prestigious institution like the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences in northern Karnataka, doctors still prescribe medications that need to be purchased externally.
"If the government claims to supply free medicines, why are patients still compelled to buy them elsewhere? Individuals from economically disadvantaged backgrounds are relying on Jan Aushadhi centers. Yet this (Congress) government is hindering access to even affordable medications," he stated.
"I vehemently oppose the decision to close Jan Aushadhi centers. Just because they are named after the Prime Minister, they are being targeted. Such actions should be reconsidered. For the benefit of the underprivileged, the government should rethink its approach to Jan Aushadhi centers," urged the Union Minister.
