Bengaluru, May 21 (NationPress) The Congress party has strongly criticized the Central government for the recent raids conducted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on the educational institutions managed by Karnataka's Home Minister, G. Parameshwara. They have labeled this move as an expression of frustration from the BJP.
Randeep Singh Surjewala, the National General Secretary and Karnataka In-Charge, took to social media platform X to express his views, stating, "The ED's actions against the educational establishments of Karnataka’s Home Minister, G. Parameshwara, a prominent leader of the SC community, reflect the BJP's desperation and the Modi government’s reaction to the recent allocation of ownership rights to 100,000 SC-ST families on May 20 in Hospet."
He further added that the unending attacks on the Constitution and leaders from SC-ST-OBC backgrounds throughout India have become a recurring issue.
Surjewala asserted, “The ongoing targeting of Parameshwara is part of a malicious agenda.” He noted that Parameshwara has been instrumental in establishing the Siddhartha Institute of Technology in Tumkuru, founded 46 years ago in 1979, and the Siddartha Medical College, created 28 years ago in 1988, to promote education.
“It is perplexing that after 46 years of contributing to education, the Modi-led government is now on a hunt for wrongdoing, especially while the Home Ministry investigates BJP’s corruption along with G. Parameshwara,” he remarked.
Surjewala emphasized that the ED's raids seem to be a desperate maneuver to divert attention from the corruption associated with previous BJP administrations and to silence advocates for the marginalized.
“The Congress-led government in Karnataka remains steadfast in implementing the five guarantees promised to the public and will diligently pursue the sixth guarantee of providing ownership of 100,000 homes to our SC-ST brothers and sisters. Justice will prevail,” he concluded.
The ED carried out raids on educational institutions owned by G. Parameshwara in Tumakuru on Wednesday.
Raids were conducted at Parameshwara’s Siddhartha Medical College in Heggare and Sri Siddhartha Institute of Technology (SSIT) located in Saraswathipuram, Tumakuru city.
Sources have indicated that another college near T. Begur, close to Nelamangala town, was also targeted.
The coordinated raids commenced at 9 a.m. at all sites.
Officials from the ED are currently scrutinizing documents, performing inspections, and executing search operations.
At the SSIT campus, ED officials arrived in three vehicles. Media access has been restricted, allowing only students with valid ID cards to enter. Local police have been deployed for security purposes.
