New Delhi, Aug 2 (NationPress) The Indian National Congress is poised to convene a significant national conclave today at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi, concentrating on constitutional principles, federalism, and the enduring legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
The event, themed 'Constitutional Challenges: Perspectives and Pathways,' is being organized by the All India Congress Committee’s (AICC) Department of Law, Human Rights, and RTI.
Commencing at 9 A.M., the conclave will assemble over 1,500 delegates from across the nation, encompassing legal scholars, educators, human rights advocates, and Congress officials from various regions.
Prominent personalities such as Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, MPs Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will be addressing the assembly, in addition to party General Secretaries K.C. Venugopal, Jairam Ramesh, Mukul Wasnik, and Treasurer Ajay Maken.
The conclave seeks to underscore the Congress’ historical contribution to the Constitution's formation and to reiterate its dedication to safeguarding democratic institutions. This event is particularly significant amidst claims of increasing centralization of power and the diminishing of constitutional protections under the current BJP-led government.
Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Chairman of the AICC’s Department of Law, Human Rights, and RTI, shared the details about the conclave on social media platform X, stating: “As Chairman of the AICC Department of Law, Human Rights and RTI, I am thrilled to announce that we are organizing a National Legal Conclave today at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.”
“Theme: ‘Constitutional Challenges: Perspectives and Pathways.’ This event is occurring at a crucial juncture in our Republic’s journey — demanding a renewed commitment to our democratic foundations,” he added.
Singhvi highlighted the necessity of collective engagement: “As custodians of the Constitution of India, we have a chance to unite — as legal experts, thinkers, and citizens — to reaffirm our faith in the constitutional framework, uphold the rule of law, and fortify our institutions’ integrity.”
Leaders from various state units of Congress, including senior members from Uttarakhand, are also participating.
Suryakant Dhasmana, Uttarakhand Congress vice president (Organisation and Administration), confirmed that senior leaders from the state will be present and will engage directly with former Congress president and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, during the conclave.
