  • Prime Minister Modi's welfare schemes have improved living conditions.
  • Access to clean cooking fuel has increased significantly.
  • Subsidized gas cylinders are benefiting 18 lakh families.
  • The Jal Jeevan Mission aims to provide tap water to every household.

Chandigarh, Aug 4 (NationPress) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini criticized the Congress on Monday, stating that despite holding power for 55 years since Independence, the party has failed to create substantial changes for the impoverished.

“Under Congress's rule, the poor became poorer, while the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has enabled both Central and state governments to deliver genuine benefits to the populace through a variety of welfare schemes,” Saini remarked to the media during a state-level event in Panchkula.

He emphasized that, in the past, Congress made promises of plots for the poor but did not provide adequate documentation or actual possession.

“Today, our government has not only issued legal documents but has also granted possession of 100-square-yard plots to beneficiaries,” he added.

The Chief Minister noted that Congress's pledges have historically remained unfulfilled. “Before 2014, rural households lacked access to LPG gas cylinders. Women suffered from smoke emitted by wood-fired stoves, and obtaining a cylinder required lengthy waits,” he stated.

“However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, ensuring that clean cooking fuel reached millions of homes.”

Saini mentioned that the state government currently provides gas cylinders to low-income families at a cost of Rs 500, benefiting 18 lakh families thus far.

He remarked that prior to 2014, many women in Haryana had to walk great distances just to access drinking water.

“For 55 years, this suffering went unnoticed. But now, thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, every household is receiving tap water through the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’.”

Taking aim at the Opposition, Saini stated that those who have governed for decades are now feigning concern for the poor.

“They are disseminating falsehoods, claiming the Constitution is endangered due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's third term. The reality is that our Constitution remains secure. The only entity at risk is the Congress party, which is gradually losing its significance,” he concluded.

Point of View

It is essential to recognize the ongoing political discourse surrounding poverty alleviation in India. While Haryana's CM Nayab Singh Saini raises valid concerns regarding the Congress party's historical performance, it is crucial to evaluate all political parties based on their current policies and actions aimed at improving the lives of the disadvantaged. The focus should remain on ensuring a better future for all citizens.
