Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 24 (NationPress) - The Opposition Leader of Kerala, V.D. Satheesan, criticized the CPI-M's recent stance regarding the Narendra Modi administration, asserting that it cannot be categorized as a fascist regime. This, he argues, signifies that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has yielded to both PM Modi and the RSS.
The CPI-M has stated in its draft political resolution for the forthcoming Party Congress that while there are signs of neo-fascism, the Modi government does not fit the label of a fascist government.
“This declaration from the CPI-M is hardly surprising for those observing the dynamics at play, as the CPI-M and Vijayan have always been aligned with Modi and the RSS. The significant change now is that this alignment has been publicly acknowledged,” stated the Congress leader.
“This draft was formulated by politburo members from Kerala aiming to establish a connection with both Modi and the RSS. The CPI, which is the second-largest party in the Vijayan-led Left government, along with all the allies within the INDIA bloc, have consistently asserted that the Modi government is indeed fascist. Even as the CPI-M claims membership in the INDIA bloc, they now extend a clean chit to Modi,” Satheesan further noted.
The CPI-M Party Congress is set to take place in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, during the first week of April, with the draft political resolution distributed to all state units beforehand. This document is scheduled for discussion at the Kerala CPI-M state party conference in Kollam early next month.
However, the CPI's Kerala Secretary, Binoy Viswam, emphasized that they have consistently characterized PM Modi as being guided by the RSS and as leading a “fascist government.”
“The CPI-M must reconsider their position on this matter,” Viswam concluded.
