V.D. Satheesan Challenges CM Vijayan Amid CPI(M)-RSS Allegations
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Thiruvananthapuram, March 26 (NationPress) The ongoing political conflict between the ruling CPI(M) and the Congress-led Opposition has escalated, with Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan delivering a pointed rebuttal to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's claims regarding a supposed BJP-CPI(M) alliance.
Shortly after CM Vijayan's Facebook statement surfaced, alleging that the Congress has covert ties with the RSS, Satheesan dismissed these accusations and redirected the allegations towards the Chief Minister himself, asserting a historical collaboration between CPI(M) and the RSS and BJP.
Satheesan emphasized that Vijayan's repeated claims of CPI(M) being the sole party opposing the RSS would not hold water among the politically astute citizens of Kerala.
He pointed out that it was actually Vijayan who had previously gained from RSS backing, particularly during the 1977 Assembly elections, rather than the Congress.
Referencing past events, Satheesan cited the Uduma constituency, suggesting an understanding between CPI(M) and RSS involving RSS leader K.G. Marar.
He also highlighted images of CPI(M) icon E.M.S. Namboodiripad alongside RSS leaders and challenged whether Vijayan would deny that senior BJP figure L.K. Advani had attended a CPI(M) campaign event in Palakkad.
Furthermore, he mentioned national political alignments from 1989, noting how CPI(M) leaders E.M.S. Namboodiripad and Jyoti Basu supported V.P. Singh in conjunction with BJP leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Advani, arguing that the Left's current claims are inconsistent.
Satheesan also referenced a statement from Balashankar, the former editor of the RSS publication Organizer, alleging a CPI(M)-BJP collaboration during the last Assembly elections and demanded a clear response from the Chief Minister.
In a further escalation of the confrontation, Satheesan accused Vijayan of holding clandestine meetings with RSS leaders in Thiruvananthapuram and maintaining secret communication channels.
He alleged that the Kerala government has undermined significant investigations, including the Kodakara hawala case, in an effort to protect individuals close to CM Vijayan.
Satheesan concluded by stating that the Congress does not need guidance from Vijayan on opposing the Sangh Parivar, asserting that there is ample evidence to support their claims and challenging the Chief Minister to respond as political tensions rise ahead of the elections.
