Thiruvananthapuram, March 5 (NationPress) The Leader of Opposition in the Kerala Assembly and Congress MLA V.D. Satheesan asserted on Wednesday that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is now leaning towards the BJP and RSS, indicating a notable change in his approach.

“Prior to the Lok Sabha elections, Vijayan consistently lauded the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) – the second-largest ally in the Congress-led United Democratic Front – but post-elections, he seems to be playing the majority community appeasement card,” Satheesan commented.

“Throughout, the CPI(M) and Vijayan have been altering their positions for their convenience. Presently, Vijayan claims that the BJP is not a fascist party, contradicting the numerous statements made by the former general secretary Sitaram Yechury, who unequivocally labeled both the BJP and RSS as fascist entities. A statement from the general secretary represents the party's stance, not merely an individual opinion,” he elaborated.

“Following Yechury's passing, observe how Vijayan has changed his tune, now exonerating the BJP,” Satheesan added.

“It’s amusing to hear him accuse the Congress of having a soft stance towards the Sangh Parivar. Our leader Rahul Gandhi remains firm in his position, actively challenging them. Compare that to Vijayan’s actions during his campaign for his party’s candidates in Karnataka, where the Congress and BJP are in direct political contention,” he stated.

“Furthermore, in Delhi, Vijayan criticizes the Congress for opposing the AAP. The AAP is part of the INDIA bloc, and our discussions fell apart when they opted to run independently. We also decided to contest separately. The CPI(M) also nominated candidates, garnering only 0.4 percent of the votes. Had they not participated, who knows if AAP might have won additional seats? Vijayan seems to forget his past when he contested in the 1977 Assembly elections with Sangh Parivar support, and in 1989, his party had a tacit agreement with communal factions, yet now he tries to instruct us,” Satheesan remarked.

“Vijayan and his party were recently attempting to attract the IUML to join them. However, just the other day, the IUML leader remarked that they have countless reasons to align with the Congress-led UDF, but not a single reason to associate with the Left, which encapsulates everything and reflects the story of sour grapes,” Satheesan added.

The CPI(M), in its draft political resolution for the forthcoming Party Congress, contends that while neo-fascist tendencies exist, the Modi administration cannot be deemed a fascist government.

The party's Congress is set to take place in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, during the first week of April, and prior to that, the draft political resolution will be distributed to all state units. This document will be reviewed at the Kerala CPI(M) state party conference in Kollam early next month.

CPI's Kerala Secretary Binoy Viswam has consistently asserted that PM Modi is under the influence of the RSS and describes it as a fascist government. “The CPI(M) must reconsider their position on this matter,” Viswam stated.
