New Delhi, Aug 15 (NationPress) The Delhi BJP President, Virendra Sachdeva, unfurled the national flag at the party's city office and called upon the citizens to unite in a pledge to collaborate with the government in the reinvention of the national capital.
Sachdeva honored the heroes of Pahalgam and commended the Indian Armed Forces for the victorious Operation Sindoor, which restored India's dignity.
He remarked that after a decade of chaotic governance in the national capital, this 79th Independence Day holds special significance for the people of Delhi, as a BJP administration has been established after a 27-year hiatus.
Sachdeva stressed that Independence Day serves not only for national commitments but also for the vow to eliminate societal wrongs.
He lamented that even after 79 years of India's freedom, the persistent issue of women's harassment continues to bring shame to the nation.
He urged the residents of Delhi to take a commitment this Independence Day to liberate our sisters, daughters, and daughters-in-law from this blight, so they can lead their lives without fear.
The gathering included notable figures such as MP and former president Manoj Tiwari, Organization General Secretary Pawan Rana, General Secretary Vishnu Mittal, Vice Presidents and MLAs Rajkumar Bhatia and Gajendra Yadav, MLA Shyam Sharma, Office Secretaries Brijesh Rai and Amit Gupta, Media Head Praveen Shankar Kapoor, Media Relations Head Vikram Mittal, Women’s Wing President Richa Pandey, Youth Wing President Sagar Tyagi, Former MLAs Subhash Sachdeva and Nitin Tyagi.
Earlier, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta spearheaded the Independence Day festivities for the Delhi government on Friday, criticizing the former AAP administration for hindering the city's development even on minor issues.
While hoisting the national flag at Chhatrasal Stadium on this 79th Independence Day, CM Gupta announced, “On the birthday of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the government will unveil the Atal Canteen scheme, providing a meal for just Rs 5 to our laborers.”
A key promise in the BJP’s manifesto, the Atal Canteen Scheme guarantees nutritious meals at an incredibly low price of Rs 5 for residents of slum areas in Delhi. Its implementation will mark a pioneering effort in delivering such affordable and healthy food.
Previously, CM Gupta criticized the former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration for stalling the city's progress, stating, “It is an embarrassment that after 78 years of freedom, the Capital still struggles to meet its basic needs and desires. It is disheartening that the Yamuna has been overlooked for years, with no serious initiatives for its restoration.”
She assured the public, “As the leader of the Delhi government, I promise that the Yamuna will be restored to its pristine state, and its banks will be a welcoming site for prayers and celebrations.”
The Chief Minister committed to the rapid transformation of the national capital and ensuring housing for all slum residents.
