Are Bomb Threats in Delhi Just Political Panic?

New Delhi, July 15 (NationPress) In light of a troubling series of bomb threats aimed at educational institutions and airlines within the national capital, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva has condemned opposition leaders for what he claims is an attempt to politicise the situation.

In a direct statement, Sachdeva accused former Chief Ministers Arvind Kejriwal and Atishi of striving to instigate unnecessary fear among the populace.

He highlighted that responsible political entities globally collaborate with law enforcement during such crises, instead of exploiting them for political gain.

“Regrettably, in our nation, we see minor leaders like Arvind Kejriwal making unworthy comments on such sensitive issues,” he remarked.

His comments follow recent email threats directed at St. Stephen’s College and St. Thomas School, which necessitated urgent action from the Delhi Police, bomb disposal teams, and fire services. Fortunately, no explosives were discovered during the investigations, and authorities have currently deemed these threats as hoaxes.

Sachdeva raised alarms about the increasing incidence of email threats targeting schools, airlines, hospitals, and places of worship, noting that similar occurrences are now being reported on a global scale.

He underscored that while 99.9% of these threats are found to be false alarms, security agencies must treat them with the utmost seriousness.

Referring to past cases, he recalled that several threatening emails sent to schools in Delhi were traced back to students, emphasizing the necessity for thorough investigations before jumping to conclusions.

The Delhi Police has initiated an investigation into the recent threats, following similar events reported earlier this year and in 2024, when hundreds of schools received bomb threats via email. Investigators have previously determined that many of these emails were sent using VPNs, complicating the tracing process.

Sachdeva called on the public to remain calm and place their trust in the police to manage the situation with professionalism.

He expressed confidence that the truth behind the current threats will soon come to light and reiterated that politicising such matters only serves to undermine the efforts of security agencies.

This incident has reignited discussions regarding the role of political rhetoric during security crises, with calls for restraint and collaboration among all parties.

As investigations proceed, authorities have heightened surveillance and urged institutions to adhere to established safety protocols.
