New Delhi, March 25 (NationPress) The Vice Chairman of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Kuljeet Singh Chahal, expressed his support on Tuesday for the Delhi Government's unprecedented Rs 1 lakh crore Budget, asserting that this financial plan will significantly enhance areas such as cleanliness, green space expansion, water supply, road infrastructure, and power infrastructure.
Chahal referred to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta's inaugural Budget as a pivotal move toward the comprehensive growth of the national capital. He highlighted that initiatives such as the ‘PM Surya Ghar: Free Electricity Scheme’, which focuses on promoting solar energy and removing overhead cables, are expected to improve the quality of power supply.
Additionally, efforts to enhance tourism and cultural heritage will bolster Delhi's international recognition of its historic landmarks.
A new solution-oriented application, similar to NDMC 311, is set to be developed to tackle issues related to the Delhi Government, with Chahal noting that Rs 15 crore has been earmarked in the Budget for the creation of this mobile app, designed to ensure effective and timely grievance resolution across various departments.
Chahal further revealed that NDMC 311 will soon incorporate Artificial Intelligence (AI), facilitating automated complaint analysis and providing real-time solutions. The NDMC is also moving towards a completely digital payment system to improve transparency and efficiency in its operations.
He emphasized that NDMC 311, which was launched in 2016, acts as a digital portal for residents within the NDMC area to report civic issues.
The app has been recognized for its excellence, receiving the e-Governance Award 2021 from Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2022, he noted.
Currently, 59 departments within NDMC are linked to the app, which has managed 37,058 complaints in the year 2024-25 and 38,286 in 2023-24, boasting an impressive 99 percent resolution rate, he added.
Chahal mentioned that most complaints revolve around health and civil infrastructure, with the majority being resolved within a span of 24 hours. The application also includes an automatic escalation feature to ensure prompt grievance resolution from junior to senior officers.
He concluded by stating that the Delhi Budget represents a crucial step towards achieving the vision of 'Viksit Delhi', in harmony with PM Modi’s 'Viksit Bharat' initiative.
