Haryana, July 19 (NationPress) On her special day this past Saturday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta made a heartfelt visit to her hometown, Nandgarh in Jind district, marking her inaugural return since taking on the esteemed role.
In an emotionally charged speech, CM Gupta recounted tales from her formative years, highlighting the challenges she faced throughout her political journey, particularly the resistance from her mother.
Present at the event was Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, alongside members of the Gupta family and local residents. A considerable crowd came together to celebrate CM Gupta's birthday, honoring the achievements of one of their own who reached the chief ministerial office.
While addressing the assembly, Gupta reminisced, "When I ran for my first college election, my mother was deeply upset. Her words were – 'you’ll ruin your future, who will marry you?'." Despite this, she acknowledged that her father and uncle consistently supported her ambitions in public life.
“Even amid her scoldings, my mother ensured I never went hungry. She would iron my clothes and backed me in her own quiet ways,” Gupta expressed.
Gupta reflected on her journey, mentioning she contested eight elections—including two in university, municipal elections, and three Assembly elections. She attributed her success to her family’s unwavering support and the affection she received from her community.
“Residents of my hometown even traveled to Delhi during my campaigning to offer their assistance. Haryana stood by me through every challenge,” she stated.
While honoring CM Saini, Gupta remarked on the pride of having someone from humble beginnings leading Haryana. “He worked as a computer operator. Like him, I also hail from a modest family without a political lineage,” she shared, crediting her accomplishments to the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The BJP has demonstrated that dynastic politics has no place within our party. Women like myself have truly found empowerment under PM Modi,” she noted.
She expressed gratitude towards CM Saini for the development initiatives undertaken in her village and reminisced about how he personally invited her to return home on her birthday, ensuring a warm reception.
