Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday, 20 August inaugurated a Jan Kaushal Kendra and a Swayam Swasthya Kendra in the Moti Nagar Assembly constituency, marking a dual push for skill development and community healthcare in west Delhi. Both facilities have been set up through the Madan Lal Khurana Foundation.

What the Jan Kaushal Kendra Offers

The skill centre is designed to give thousands of young people hands-on exposure to Artificial Intelligence and industry-aligned competencies alongside conventional education. Chief Minister Gupta emphasised that AI and digital technologies are generating unprecedented opportunities in employment and entrepreneurship, and that such centres act as a bridge to make youth 'future-ready' and self-reliant.

Notably, the centre is not limited to younger learners. Gupta pointed out that senior citizens and older adults are also enrolling to engage with AI and new technologies — a signal of broader community uptake. 'The Jan Kaushal Kendra in Moti Nagar may be small, but it is an important building block in laying a strong foundation for a much larger goal,' she said.

Link to PM Modi's Independence Day Vision

Gupta connected the initiative to the national agenda set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who — during his Independence Day address from the Red Fort — outlined the goal of linking youth with AI-focused education and skill training. The Moti Nagar centre, she argued, is a ground-level expression of that vision, equipping young people with capabilities aligned to the demands of the future economy.

Swayam Swasthya Kendra: Health as a Pillar

Inaugurating the Swayam Swasthya Kendra, the Chief Minister underscored that health is as foundational to a strong society as education and skills. The centre is intended to extend accessible healthcare to residents of the constituency, complementing the skill infrastructure being built alongside it.

Honouring Madan Lal Khurana's Legacy

Gupta paid tribute to the late former Delhi Chief Minister Madan Lal Khurana, recalling his commitment to public service. She said the Foundation's work across education, healthcare, and welfare for weaker sections is a meaningful effort to realise his vision of a 'prosperous and empowered Delhi.' MLA Harish Khurana, Umang Bajaj, and other dignitaries were present at the inauguration.

The opening of these two centres signals an intent to scale grassroots infrastructure for skills and health in Delhi's urban constituencies, with more such facilities likely to follow as part of the broader state and national skilling agenda.
