While addressing the audience, the Chief Minister remarked that a grave illness like cancer impacts not only the physical body but also a person's mental fortitude, self-esteem, and the overall financial stability of their family.
She emphasized that combating cancer requires a collective societal approach beyond just medical treatment, rooted in empathy and social support.
The Chief Minister highlighted that Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are increasingly becoming crucial to primary healthcare in Delhi. Currently, approximately 350 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are functioning throughout the city, providing free screenings for oral, breast, and cervical cancer, in addition to offering medicines, vaccinations, and essential diagnostic services.
The Ayushman Bharat scheme has granted health security to millions, with over 43 crore individuals registered to date. In Delhi, numerous residents are benefiting from health coverage under this scheme.
She also mentioned that more than 16,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras have been established nationwide, where many medicines are accessible at prices up to 90 percent lower. These centers are being continuously expanded in Delhi to guarantee that affordable and quality medications reach the general populace.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta noted that the central government has designated a budget of Rs 10,000 crore for significant central hospitals in Delhi, including AIIMS, Safdarjung, and Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.
This funding will enhance medical infrastructure, modernize equipment, and improve facilities, ensuring better, accessible, and dignified care for patients. The Chief Minister affirmed that the Delhi government will steadfastly support all institutions dedicated to public service and healthcare.
