New Delhi, July 22 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, paid a visit on Tuesday to the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) training centre designed for legislators. This initiative focuses on providing insights into paperless operations within the Assembly, as stated by an official.
Accompanied by Speaker Vijender Gupta, the Chief Minister, alongside PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh, engaged with the NeVA Training Centre to experience the platform firsthand. This visit is part of the Assembly’s commitment to embracing a fully digital and paperless legislative process, according to an official from the Assembly secretariat.
Experts from NeVA provided an in-depth presentation to the Chief Minister and other MLAs, detailing the platform's objectives, features, and functionalities. This overview emphasized how the system is set to transform legislative proceedings.
This visit occurred on the second day of the NeVA training programme at the Delhi Legislative Assembly.
During the event, Speaker Gupta remarked that the ongoing NeVA training programme represents a crucial step towards fulfilling the vision of One Nation, One Application.
“The enthusiastic involvement of participants, including the Chief Minister and Minister, will facilitate the effective realization of our objectives,” stated Speaker Gupta.
In line with the digital initiative, smartphones were distributed to CM Gupta and Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh, ensuring smooth access to the NeVA platform.
Union Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs (MoPA) experts led the training sessions, assisting members in becoming familiar with the digital tools and features available on the NeVA platform.
Legislators accessed the digital List of Business (LoB) using newly provided iPhones and interacted with the system through 18 newly-installed computers at the training centre.
The training programme is set to continue for an additional day, ensuring all MLAs are well-prepared for the upcoming monsoon session under the NeVA digital framework.
Earlier, Gupta stated, “The launch of the NeVA Seva Centre and the successful completion of the first phase of NeVA signifies a pivotal milestone in our dedication to a digital, transparent, and sustainable legislature.”
Speaker Gupta expressed that this initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for Digital India, advocating for paperless governance and the transformative concept of ‘One Nation, One Application’.
He noted the unfortunate lack of genuine efforts in this direction by previous governments. With NeVA, we are bridging the gap and establishing a more accountable and modern legislative ecosystem.
As part of the programme, each MLA received a smartphone preloaded with the NeVA application, enabling seamless access to the list of business, legislative questions, documents, and session updates.
