New Delhi, March 7 (NationPress) As we approach International Women's Day, Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized on Saturday that an empowered woman is the bedrock of a thriving society and a progressive India.

During her day, the Chief Minister utilized a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus while holding the Saheli Pink National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), gaining firsthand insight into its functionality.

"When you board the bus, simply tap the card on the machine and your journey is automatically logged. The entire experience is swift, user-friendly, and transparent," she commented.

She stressed that this service is exceptionally beneficial for women throughout Delhi.

"The card is available for free at numerous locations across the city. Just register using your Aadhaar number and mobile number, and enjoy complimentary rides on DTC buses," she encouraged women to take advantage of the Saheli Pink NCMC card.

CM Gupta pointed out that the Delhi government has made public transport a key focus in the 2025-26 Budget by significantly increasing the funding for the Transport Department.

A total of Rs 9,110 crore has been allocated to the department this year, which is nearly 60% more than last year's Rs 5,702 crore.

Additionally, Chief Minister Gupta participated in an event at Delhi University's Ramjas College to celebrate International Women's Day.

In a post on social media platform X, she remarked, "I had the privilege to join the Women Power Conference hosted by the Vanvasi Kalyan Seva Samiti at Ramjas College. In our culture, women have always been the essence of strength, creation, and values."

"Women from the Vanvasi community have made a remarkable impact in empowering society through their hard work, bravery, and dignity. Their contributions extend beyond the family, forming the backbone of nation-building. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, our country is advancing towards women-led development," she added.

"With the commitment of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' and 'Antyodaya' (reaching the last mile), our (BJP) government is tirelessly working to create new avenues for education, security, respect, and self-sufficiency for every daughter, sister, and mother in Delhi," stated Chief Minister Gupta.

"An empowered woman is the strongest foundation of a prosperous society and a developed India," she reiterated, noting the presence of esteemed guests such as renowned social worker and author Shashi Bubna, All India Sah-Mahila Karya Pramukh Anuradha Bhatia, Senior Ayurveda Consultant Ruchi Bhardwaj, and Ramjas College Principal Ajay Kumar Arora.
