New Delhi, Dec 19 (NationPress) On Friday, Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that the Ayushman Bharat initiative has emerged as a crucial lifeline for more than 6.5 lakh families in the city, particularly during health crises.

In a message shared on X, CM Gupta emphasized the government's commitment to enhancing healthcare access, stating, “In times of urgent medical need, the health security coverage of up to Rs 10 lakh empowers families, ensuring that treatment is not hindered by financial constraints.”

She further noted, “Be it the industrious families of Delhi, the elderly, or young children, Ayushman Bharat provides assurance that the government is with them during challenging moments.”

CM Gupta highlighted that this scheme, conceived by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is dedicated to offering relief, dignity, and health security to those in need across Delhi.

Additionally, following CM Gupta's directives, the Delhi Government has arranged for the distribution of 25 oxygen concentrators and 25 BiPAP ventilation machines for military personnel stationed in high-altitude areas with low oxygen availability.

This equipment was procured at the request of the Medical Regiment, in collaboration with the Oxygen Branch of the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of NCT of Delhi. The initiative has been undertaken with the national interest and the well-being of the troops in mind.

Military personnel in such harsh environments face increased risks of hypoxia and associated health issues, making timely oxygen assistance vital for their health and operational readiness, according to a press release.

The equipment is designated strictly for medical emergencies, with the respective unit tasked with maintenance and responsible use in line with established protocols, the statement added.

This action underscores the Delhi Government's acknowledgment of its shared responsibility towards the armed forces, recognizing the challenges faced by personnel in extremely demanding settings, as mentioned in the statement.

This initiative aims to bolster medical readiness and support the welfare of those deployed in challenging high-altitude regions.

In response to this decision, Delhi's Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh remarked, “Under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s leadership, the Delhi Government feels it is our moral duty to support our troops operating in inhospitable conditions.”

“Our soldiers endure some of the toughest environments, and ensuring they receive timely medical care is a collective responsibility we must uphold. This decision prioritizes national interest and our troops' well-being,” the Minister stated.
