New Delhi, Aug 11 (NationPress) In a decisive move, the Delhi Police have successfully executed two significant operations, leading to the dismantling of a gambling ring and the capture of a notorious criminal found with an illegal firearm.
The operations, conducted by the Operations Cell alongside the Kishangarh police station, reflect the heightened commitment of the Delhi Police to combat organized and street-level crime within the area.
According to a press release from the South West District Police on Monday, a specialized team from the Operations Cell arrested six suspects involved in unlawful gambling activities in the Kishangarh locality.
The individuals, named as Akil Khan (28), Rajeev Singh (44), Subham Kumar Chaurasiya (30), Chanderpal (50), Mahender Singh (60), and Washim (38), were caught in the act during a raid executed based on precise intelligence.
“During the operation, police seized stake money totaling Rs 66,000 and 104 playing cards,” the release detailed.
Following a tip-off received on August 8, the team conducted an efficient raid led by Inspector Hari Singh and under the guidance of ACP Vijay Singh.
An FIR under the Delhi Public Gambling Act has been filed, and further inquiries are ongoing.
In a related incident, the Kishangarh police arrested a repeat offender named Sanjay, a 28-year-old from R.K. Puram.
This arrest occurred near Jhod, Pahadi Park in Munirka Village during routine patrol on August 10. The police noticed suspicious behavior, leading to a chase and the eventual capture of the suspect, along with a country-made pistol and two live cartridges.
“Sanjay has a history involving seven cases of robbery, snatching, theft, and violations under the Arms Act, recorded at RK Puram and Kishangarh,” the press release noted.
The suspect, who reportedly struggles with drug addiction, admitted to using the illegal firearm in multiple crimes. An FIR under the Arms Act has been filed, and the weapon has been confiscated.
Commenting on the success of these operations, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South West District), Amit Goel, stated, “The South West District Police are dedicated to dismantling criminal networks, ensuring public safety, and upholding law and order.”
