Delhi Police's Anti Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of East District busted an online IPL betting racket operating from the Madhu Vihar area of New Delhi on 23 May, arresting three men allegedly running illegal gambling operations during live IPL T20 matches. The raid, carried out at approximately 6 pm, was triggered by specific intelligence and backed by a court-issued search warrant.

The Accused and Their Roles

The three arrested individuals have been identified as Manish Jain (50), a resident of Madhu Vihar, Abhishek Jain (26) from Jagat Puri, and Arpit Gupta (40) of Mandawali Unche Par. According to investigators, Manish Jain was allegedly operating the racket from his own residence, while the other two were assisting in running the operation.

The trio was allegedly conducting online betting during the Lucknow Super Giants vs Punjab Kings IPL match when the police team arrived.

What Police Found at the Scene

Upon entering the upper floor of the Madhu Vihar premises, officers found all three accused seated in the drawing room surrounded by devices. Police recovered two Dell laptops, two Samsung tablets, nine mobile phones, and a notepad containing handwritten betting entries along with other betting-related records.

Live streaming of the IPL match was reportedly running on tablet devices, and the accused were allegedly coordinating with punters via phone calls. According to investigators, the accused attempted to flee upon noticing the police team but were overpowered and detained on the spot.

Betting Software and Applications Seized

Investigators noted that the accused were using specialised betting applications and software — including 'Sky Live Pro', 'Data Calculation Ver 1.0', and 'Skyexch' — to monitor live betting odds and manage betting accounts. Multiple mobile phones were used to communicate betting rates, accept wagers, and maintain transaction records.

Operation Details and Supervising Officers

The operation was described by police as part of a 'sustained drive against illegal betting and gambling activities during IPL matches.' It was conducted under the supervision of ACP Operations East Pawan Kumar and Inspector Anand Singh, in-charge of AATS/East District, alongside a team comprising SI Vikram Singh, SI Sandeep Singh, ASI Rajiv Kumar, ASI Ajay, HC Vikrant, and HC Krishan.

Investigation Ongoing

Police have confirmed that further investigation is underway to trace the wider network, examine financial transactions, and identify other individuals linked to the online betting syndicate. This arrest is among several enforcement actions targeting illegal IPL betting operations across India during the ongoing tournament season.
