Mumbai, Nov 10 (NationPress) The esteemed Bollywood icon Dharmendra, aged 89, is currently receiving ventilator support at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.

The legendary actor was admitted to the hospital a few days ago. Sources close to IANS have provided a health update indicating that Dharmendra's condition is critical and he remains on life support.

On October 31, as reported by sources close to IANS, he was placed under strict medical supervision by leading doctors at the Breach Candy Hospital. The precise reason for his illness remains unknown; however, it was initially stated that the veteran star had gone for a routine check-up and has been undergoing further examinations since then. Dharmendra's 90th birthday is approaching on December 8.

In terms of his career, Dharmendra was last featured in the film Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, released in 2024, which included actors Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. He is also set to appear in the upcoming movie 'Ikkis', directed by the renowned Sriram Raghavan.

This film stars Agastya Nanda and Simar Bhatia and is a war drama based on the life of Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra.

Additionally, the film features Jaideep Ahlawat and Sikandar Kher in significant roles and is scheduled for a December release.

Dharmendra, often hailed as one of the most remarkable, handsome, and commercially successful film stars in Indian cinema history, has enjoyed a cinematic career spanning over six decades, acting in more than 300 films.

He holds the record for appearing in the highest number of blockbuster films in Hindi cinema. In 2012, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan. Dharmendra made his debut in 1960 with Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere and gained fame in the mid-1960s with films like Ayee Milan Ki Bela, Phool Aur Patthar, and Aaye Din Bahar Ke.

Throughout his career, he has starred in numerous successful Hindi films from the late 1960s to the 1980s, including Ankhen, Shikar, Aya Sawan Jhoom Ke, Jeevan Mrityu, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Seeta Aur Geeta, Raja Jani, Jugnu, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Dost, Sholay, Pratiggya, Charas, Dharam Veer, Chacha Bhatija, Ghulami, Hukumat, Aag Hi Aag, Elaan-E-Jung, Tahalka, Anpadh, Bandini, Haqeeqat, Anupama, Mamta, Majhli Didi, Satyakam, Naya Zamana, Samadhi, Resham Ki Dori, Chupke Chupke, Dillagi, The Burning Train, Ghazab, Do Dishayen, and Hathyar.

In the late 1990s, he took on character roles in several notable and successful films, including Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, Life in a... Metro, Apne, Johnny Gaddaar, Yamla Pagla Deewana, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, and Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya.
