The 89-year-old actor is set to appear in 'Ikkis', a coming-of-age film based on the life of Indian war hero Arun Khetarpal.
This film is expected to hit theaters on October 2, 2025. With 'Ikkis', Indian filmmaker Sriram Raghavan makes a return to cinema with a war narrative.
Raghavan is renowned for his cult classics like 'Ek Hasina Thi', 'Johnny Gaddaar', and 'Andhadhun'.
The anticipated film features Dharmendra, 'Paatal Lok' star Jaideep Ahlawat, and Agastya Nanda, marking a tonal shift for Raghavan, who is primarily known for thrillers and noir films.
'Ikkis' is set during the Battle of Basantar, a pivotal event in the 1971 conflict between India and Pakistan. Produced by Maddock Films, its release is scheduled for October 2, 2025.
In May, the film faced criticism after its initial look was unveiled.
However, the film inaccurately credits Arun as the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra. While Arun received the honor posthumously at 21, it is actually Yogendra Singh Yadav, honored during the Kargil War of 1999, who holds the title of the youngest recipient at 19.
'Ikkis' is set against the backdrop of the Battle of Basantar, which played a significant role in the 1971 war between India and Pakistan.
