Entitled “Aj bhi ji karda hai, pind apne nu jaanwa,” the poem eloquently embodies his deep yearning and romantic nostalgia for his cherished pind (village). The makers shared this touching poem on Instagram, stating, “Aj bhi ji karda hai, Pind apne nu jaanwa.” Dharamji epitomized the spirit of the land, and his verses resonate with the essence of that land. This poem is a heartfelt tribute, reflecting a legend’s admiration for another. Ikkis, produced by Dinesh Vijan and Maddock Films and directed by National Award-winner Sriram Raghavan, narrates the true story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, set to hit theaters on December 25.
The clip serves as a loving homage to the late veteran actor, who passed away on November 24. In the film, Dharmendra portrays the father of 21-year-old Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal. Agastya Nanda takes on the role of Khetarpal, the valiant soldier who was martyred at the age of 21 during the 1971 Battle of Basantar in the Indo-Pak war.
For his remarkable valor, Khetarpal was awarded the Param Vir Chakra posthumously, earning the distinction of being the youngest recipient of India's highest military honor at the time. The film also stars Jaideep Ahlawat and Sikander Kher. Ikkis marks Dharmendra's final appearance on the big screen. He passed away on the same day the filmmakers revealed his character poster.
The poster was captioned, “Fathers raise sons. Legends raise nations. Dharmendra ji, an emotional powerhouse as the father of a 21-year-old immortal soldier. One timeless legend brings us the story of another. #IkkisTrailerOutNow Ikkis in cinemas worldwide on 25th December 2025.”
