Mumbai, March 31 (NationPress) An FIR has been filed against director Sanoj Mishra for the alleged rape and assault of a woman. Mishra is known for offering a role in his upcoming film to Monalisa, the viral sensation from the Kumbh Mela.
The 45-year-old director was apprehended in Ghaziabad after the Delhi High Court denied his plea for anticipatory bail.
The complaint comes from a 28-year-old woman who claims she met Mishra via social media platforms, including TikTok and Instagram, back in 2020 while residing in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. According to her statement, he allegedly coerced her into meeting him under the threat of suicide. She alleged that on June 18, 2021, he took her to a resort in Nabi Karim, drugged her, and sexually assaulted her.
In her complaint, she reveals that the two were in a live-in relationship in Mumbai for the past four years, during which she alleges she was compelled to undergo three abortions. Mishra, who is married and lives with his family in Mumbai, later retracted his promise to marry her, prompting her to file the complaint. The complainant has also corroborated her allegations in a statement under section 164 of the CrPC. Medical records concerning the abortions were obtained from Muzaffarnagar.
On Sunday, after gathering intelligence and conducting technical surveillance, law enforcement captured him in Ghaziabad.
The victim further alleged that Mishra documented intimate photos and videos of her, using them to manipulate her into maintaining a relationship. Last month, the accused reportedly abandoned her and threatened to disclose her private images and videos if she pursued legal action against him.
