Is Divya Dutta Challenging the Silence in 'Chiraiya'?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Feb 20 (NationPress) JioHotstar has released an intriguing teaser for its upcoming series, 'Chiraiya'.
The series tackles a profound question regarding one of the most deeply entrenched injustices in Indian households: the notion that marriage equates to perpetual consent.
Actress Divya Dutta, who takes on a pivotal role in the show, shared her insights about the project, stating that it compelled her to confront some harsh realities about society and the prevalent assumption that marriage signifies unquestioned consent.
Divya expressed, “While embodying this character in Chiraiya, I frequently faced an uncomfortable reality—how often we silence ourselves to maintain relationships and ensure peace. This narrative compelled me to ponder how easily marriage is perceived as a realm of unquestioned consent and how the concept of sacrifice is romanticized to the extent that pain becomes overlooked.”
She highlighted that 'Chiraiya' raises a vital question: when loved ones are harmed in the name of marriage, do you remain passive or do you speak out against the injustice?
“When you see someone dear to you being belittled or wronged, do you remain silent to safeguard what is, or do you jeopardize everything to uphold what is right? There are no simple answers, and that’s perhaps what makes it profoundly unsettling. My hope is that when viewers engage with this story, they don’t merely watch, but truly feel and perhaps recognize the truths we often hesitate to articulate,” she added.
Directed by Shashant Shah and produced by SVF Entertainment, the series boasts an outstanding cast led by Divya Dutta, featuring Sanjay Mishra, Siddharth Shaw, Prasanna Bisht, Faisal Rashid, Tinnu Anand, Sarita Joshi, and others.
