Chennai, March 4 (NationPress) DMK MP P. Wilson has taken aim at Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay after several supporters of the actor-politician suffered injuries in road incidents while trying to follow his convoy to Thanjavur on Wednesday.

In response to these events, Wilson stated that a genuine leader should steer their followers responsibly and ensure they act with caution, rather than encouraging reckless acts of fandom.

According to law enforcement, a large number of vehicles—including cars and motorcycles—were trailing Vijay’s convoy from Tiruchy to Thanjavur, where the TVK chief was set to hold a meeting with party officials.

This fervent chase by fans allegedly resulted in multiple accidents along the way. One of the most critical cases involved P. Vignesh (20), a third-year B.Com student hailing from Keelakalkandarkottai in the Tiruchy district.

Vignesh was on his motorcycle trailing Vijay’s vehicle when he unexpectedly lost control and crashed into a car.

He suffered severe head trauma and was immediately taken to a private hospital, where he is currently being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

His friend Arun, who was riding with him, also sustained injuries, including a leg fracture. Medical professionals are carefully monitoring Vignesh’s condition.

In another incident, three other fans pursuing Vijay’s convoy on two-wheelers collided with each other while speeding in an attempt to draw closer to the TVK leader’s vehicle.

The injured individuals have been identified as Kalaimani (26), Muthu (28), and Durgasree (26).

All three have incurred fractures in their arms and legs and were admitted to a private hospital in Thanjavur for care. Authorities have filed a case regarding these incidents and have initiated an investigation.

Meanwhile, Vignesh’s father expressed to reporters that he was unaware of his son's absence from college to attend the political event in Thanjavur. He noted that neither Vignesh nor the college administration had informed him about the trip.

In a social media statement, Wilson emphasized that leaders should instruct their supporters against reckless driving, riding without helmets, causing disturbances on public roads, and skipping educational commitments for political events.

He further asserted that basking in public admiration without promoting discipline and civic responsibility among followers does not embody true leadership.

Expressing his concerns for the injured youths, Wilson remarked that the youth represent the future of Tamil Nadu and wished them a swift recovery.

Point of View

It is crucial for leaders to promote safe behavior and civic responsibility among their followers.
