Srinagar, April 16 (NationPress) In its ongoing commitment to combat drug trafficking through the 'Nasha-Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan', law enforcement in J&K's Ganderbal celebrated a notable triumph on Thursday.
Acting on a credible lead obtained from trusted sources, the Police Station Kangan was alerted that Javed Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Rehim Dar, a resident of Khanan Kangan, had hidden a contraband substance resembling charas in a cowshed near his home, according to a police statement.
Following this tip-off, an FIR No. 31/2026 under U/S 8/20 of the NDPS Act was swiftly registered at the police station. A police team, along with an Executive Magistrate and the relevant Lumberdar, commenced a search operation at the specified site, adhering to all legal protocols.
During the operation, around 580 grams of charas-like powder was discovered and confiscated from the cowshed, leading to the arrest of the accused.
Ongoing investigations aim to uncover further connections related to the case.

J&K's Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, during the launch of the 100-day campaign ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan’, declared that severe punitive measures, including the cancellation of passports, Aadhaar cards, and driving licenses, as well as property attachments, would be enforced against drug smugglers.
J&K Police, in collaboration with security forces, is actively conducting extensive anti-smuggling operations throughout the Union Territory. Those involved in hawala money operations are also under scrutiny, as the funds from these activities are suspected to finance terrorism in J&K.
The Army and the Border Security Force (BSF) are stationed along the Line of Control (LoC) and the international border (IB) to thwart infiltration, exfiltration, drug trafficking, and drone operations originating from beyond the border.
