New Delhi, Oct 1 (NationPress) External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar on Wednesday conveyed his heartfelt wishes to Chinese Politburo Member and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, along with the people of China, in celebration of the country’s founding day. He expressed optimism about ongoing efforts to stabilize and enhance India-China relations.
“Greetings to Politburo Member and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and the Chinese people on the occasion of the founding day of the People’s Republic of China. I look forward to our continued efforts to stabilize and rebuild our ties,” EAM Jaishankar shared on X.
On this day, China commemorates its founding day, signifying the 76th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China, which was established by Chinese Communist leader Mao Zedong on October 1, 1949.
Earlier in August, Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited India for two days, where he met with EAM Jaishankar. The Chinese Foreign Minister also engaged in a new round of Special Representatives (SR) dialogue regarding the boundary issue with National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and had discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
During their meeting, EAM Jaishankar underscored the importance of advancing the de-escalation process, asserting that the foundation of any progress in India-China relations is the mutual ability to maintain peace and stability in border areas.
“You, Excellency, will surely address border issues with our Special Representative, NSA Ajit Doval, tomorrow. This dialogue is crucial because the basis for any positive momentum in our ties hinges on our shared capacity to maintain peace and tranquility along the borders. It is vital that we progress in the de-escalation efforts,” Jaishankar stated in his opening remarks.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and other officials were also present at the meeting, which took place shortly after the arrival of the Chinese Foreign Minister in New Delhi.
“When the world’s two largest nations convene, it’s customary to discuss the international landscape. We advocate for a fair, balanced, and multi-polar world order, which includes a multi-polar Asia. The call for reformed multilateralism is more pertinent than ever,” the EAM articulated.
“In the current global climate, it is imperative to preserve and enhance stability within the global economy. The battle against terrorism in all its forms is also a significant priority. I am eager for our discussions,” he concluded.
