New Delhi, Oct 1 (NationPress) External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar conveyed his heartfelt greetings to Wang Yi, a key member of the Chinese Politburo and Foreign Minister, along with the citizens of China, on the significant occasion of the nation's founding day. He expressed optimism about progressing in efforts to stabilize and enhance India-China relations.
“I extend my warm wishes to Politburo Member and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, as well as to the people of China, on this momentous day commemorating the establishment of the People’s Republic of China. I look forward to advancing our mutual efforts in stabilizing and rebuilding our relationship,” EAM Jaishankar shared on X.
This day marks a historic event for China, celebrating the 76th anniversary of the People's Republic, which was declared by the Chinese Communist leader Mao Zedong on October 1, 1949.
In August, Wang Yi visited India for two days, where he had discussions with EAM Jaishankar. During this visit, he also engaged in a new round of Special Representatives (SR) dialogues concerning border issues with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In their discussions, EAM Jaishankar underscored the importance of moving forward with the de-escalation process, highlighting that the foundation for any progress in India-China relations hinges on the ability to jointly uphold peace and stability along their border.
“Excellency, you will be addressing border matters with our Special Representative, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, tomorrow. This is crucial, as the basis for any favorable development in our relationship is the capacity to jointly maintain peace and tranquility in border regions. It is also vital for the de-escalation process to advance,” Jaishankar remarked during his opening statements.
Also present at the meeting were Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and other officials, shortly after the arrival of the Chinese Foreign Minister in New Delhi.
“When the two largest nations in the world convene, it is expected that a discussion on global circumstances will occur. We strive for a just, balanced, and multipolar world order, including a multipolar Asia. The need for reformed multilateralism is more pressing than ever,” stated the EAM.
“Given the current climate, maintaining and enhancing stability within the global economy is imperative. The fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations remains a significant priority. I eagerly anticipate our exchange of perspectives,” he concluded.
