New Delhi, Jan 9 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday conveyed his warm birthday wishes to External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar, commending his dedicated service to the country and his initiatives in enhancing India's foreign relations.

In a message posted on the social media platform X, PM Modi stated, "Birthday wishes to EAM Dr. S. Jaishankar Ji. He has worked tirelessly for our nation and has been instrumental in fortifying our diplomatic ties. I wish him a long and healthy life."

In response to the Prime Minister's kind words, EAM Jaishankar expressed his appreciation and humility, saying, "Thank you, PM Narendra Modi, for your good wishes. It is an immense honor to be part of your team."

EAM Jaishankar has held the position of India’s External Affairs Minister since May 30, 2019, and serves as a Member of the Rajya Sabha, representing Gujarat.

With a remarkable background in diplomacy, he previously held the role of India’s Foreign Secretary from 2015 to 2018 and has occupied significant ambassadorial posts, including Ambassador to the United States (2013–2015), China (2009–2013), and the Czech Republic (2000–2004). He also served as India’s High Commissioner to Singapore (2007–2009) and has been involved in various important missions in Moscow, Colombo, Budapest, and Tokyo.

EAM Jaishankar's educational achievements are equally noteworthy. He graduated from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, and earned a Master’s degree in Political Science, as well as an M.Phil. and Ph.D. in International Relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi.

In recognition of his significant contributions, he received the Padma Shri award in 2019. A prolific author, S. Jaishankar has written well-regarded books such as The India Way: Strategies for an Uncertain World (2020) and Why Bharat Matters (2024). Dr. Jaishankar’s leadership continues to enhance the nation’s foreign policy agenda.
