Paris, March 28 (NationPress) External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar shared that he had a productive meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, where he delivered warm regards from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In a statement posted on X, EAM Jaishankar remarked, "It was a privilege to meet with President Emmanuel Macron of France last night. I conveyed the best wishes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I greatly appreciated our discussion and his insightful perspectives."
This interaction follows closely on the heels of President Macron's official visit to India from February 17–19, which was aimed at enhancing the strategic partnership between India and France.
During his trip, Macron met PM Modi in Mumbai to launch the India-France Year of Innovation 2026 and also participated in the AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi.
EAM Jaishankar also took the opportunity to visit the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Paris, expressing optimism that the newly renovated venue will become a center for promoting Indian art and culture.
In his X post, he mentioned, "I visited the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Paris and was impressed by the vibrant displays of India's cultural and spiritual heritage."
He added, "I am confident that the renewed facility will act as a hub in Paris for fostering a deeper appreciation of Indian art and culture."
The centre features stunning Indian art exhibits, including tree-of-life murals adorned with elephants and peacocks, as well as intricate miniature paintings that signify the country's spiritual legacy.
Managed by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, the centre serves as a diplomatic instrument to strengthen Indo-French relations, aligning with the bilateral agreements made during Prime Minister Modi's discussions with President Macron in February to expand cultural institutions in Europe.
EAM Jaishankar arrived in France on March 27 ahead of the G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting.
At this meeting, he highlighted the significance of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) in enhancing global connectivity amidst ongoing geopolitical tensions.
He pointed out that the situation in West Asia underscores the necessity for resilient trade routes and secure supply chains.
