ECI Implements Transfers for 13 District Magistrates in Election-Ready Bengal

Kolkata, March 18 (NationPress) The Election Commission of India (ECI) has mandated the reassignment of 13 officers from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), all serving as District Magistrates (DMs) and District Electoral Officers (DEOs).
According to the notification released by the ECI this afternoon, Jitin Jadav, a 2016 IAS officer, is now appointed as the DM-cum-DEO of Cooch Behar district.
Sandeep Ghosh, also from the 2016 batch, will take over as DM-cum-DEO of Jalpaiguri district.
Vikek Kumar, another 2016 batch officer, has been assigned as the new DM-cum-DEO for North Dinajpur district.
Rajanveer Singh Kapur (2012 batch) will serve as the DM-cum-DEO for the sensitive Malda district.
R. Arjun (2010 batch) has been designated as the new DM-cum-DEO for the super-sensitive Murshidabad district.
Srikant Palli (2015 batch) will now be the DM-cum-DEO of Nadia district.
Sweta Agarwal (2016 batch) has been appointed as the new DM-cum-DEO of East Burdwan district.
Smita Pandey (2005 batch) will now take on the role of Municipal Commissioner of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) and DEO for the electoral district of Kolkata (Uttar).
Randhir Kumar (2006 batch) will be the new DEO for the electoral district of Kolkata (Dakshin).
Silpa Gourisaria (2009 batch) has been appointed as the new DM-cum-DEO for North 24 Parganas, adjacent to Kolkata.
Abhishek Kumar Tiwary (2012 batch) will take charge as the DM-cum-DEO of South 24 Parganas, another district close to Kolkata.
Harishankar Panicker (2013) is the new DM-cum-DEO for Darjeeling, while T. Balasubramanian (2013 batch) is assigned to be the DM-cum-DEO of Alipurduar district.
Earlier today, the ECI also ordered the transfer of five IPS officers, all holding the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG), overseeing specific ranges within the state.
Following the announcement of the two-phase elections for West Bengal next month, the ECI has been systematically issuing transfer orders for bureaucrats and police officials at various levels.
A source from the Chief Electoral Officer's office stated that the transfer process commenced with the highest-ranking bureaucrats, including the chief secretary and home secretary, and top police officials like director generals and additional director generals.
"Currently, we are in the phase of transferring mid-level officials, such as DMs for bureaucrats and DIGs, superintendents, and deputy commissioners for police. The next phase will include transfers at the lower levels, encompassing additional district magistrates, sub-divisional officers, and block development officers for general administration, alongside additional superintendents, deputy superintendents, assistant superintendents, assistant commissioners, and inspectors for police administration," the source elaborated.
