Chennai, May 6 (NationPress) The Enforcement Directorate (ED) executed a series of comprehensive raids on Tuesday at five distinct locations in Chennai, focusing on environmental consultancy firms and individuals associated with the healthcare sector.
The simultaneous searches took place in Koyambedu, Ashok Nagar, Saidapet, Virugambakkam, and Mylapore as part of an ongoing investigation into purported financial misconduct.
Multiple ED teams, supported by personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), arrived at the targeted sites early in the day.
One of the notable locations examined was the office of EHS360Labs Pvt Ltd situated in Ashok Nagar. ED agents also conducted searches at the home of Alankanathan, who is the Director of Alenkar Infra Business Alliance and Ensys Technologies, located in Saidapet.
Moreover, the residences and business locations of Gunasekaran, the Director of Echo Care Engineering and Sutrusuzhal Paramarippu Poriyiyal Pvt Ltd, were also scrutinized.
Sources have indicated that Echo Care Engineering Ltd provided equipment to the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board, potentially linking it to the investigation.
Although the ED has not publicly disclosed the motives behind the raids, sources speculate that the operations may be linked to a 2021 FIR filed by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) against S. Pandian, the former superintendent of the Environment Department in Pudukkottai, who is accused of amassing wealth beyond his known income sources.
Alankanathan is also reportedly entangled in a pending case regarding earlier income tax investigations.
In another significant move, the ED also raided the residence of Dr. Varadarajan in KK Nagar, who is linked to several medical establishments.
A well-known businessman’s residence in Saidapet was also under the microscope.
ED officials examined financial documents, digital devices, and other potentially incriminating materials during these raids.
Although no statement has been officially released, the searches are perceived to be part of a larger investigation into suspected money laundering and financial irregularities involving entities in both the environmental consultancy and healthcare sectors.
Documents were reportedly confiscated during the operation, and further actions are anticipated as the investigation unfolds.
