Davanagere, Sep 27 (NationPress) On Saturday, Karnataka Police apprehended eight individuals in relation to the controversial 'I Love Muhammad' incident and the ensuing violence in the Davanagere district.

The police have indicated that four specialized teams have been established to identify and detain additional suspects who are believed to have disrupted peace and order in the area.

This action follows a confrontation that occurred on September 24 between two communities in the Karl Marx Nagar area of Davanagere city, triggered by a dispute over a banner. Reports indicated that stones were hurled at Hindu homes during the clash. In response, three FIRs were filed against approximately 100 individuals, with eight arrests made from both factions.

The police are also actively surveilling social media for any further disturbances.

Davanagere district SP Uma Prashanth has issued a warning that severe consequences will follow for those disseminating misinformation.

She encouraged the public to report any incidents to the police rather than resorting to confrontations or taking matters into their own hands. Furthermore, she urged citizens to uphold a sense of peace within the district.

The typically tranquil Davanagere city experienced rising tensions following the display of 'I Love Muhammad' banners. The controversy led to heated exchanges between two communities, which ultimately escalated into violence. Police intervention helped restore order, and cases have been filed against both parties.

The conflict began with the sudden emergence of a banner in Karl Marx Nagar that proclaimed 'I Love Muhammad'. The atmosphere remains tense, prompting police to implement strict security measures. In response, some locals countered with their own banners reading 'I Love Mahadev'.

Residents have expressed frustration, claiming that living in Karl Marx Nagar has become increasingly challenging, with sentiments suggesting uncertainty about whether they are in Pakistan or India.

Meanwhile, women from another community gathered to voice their grievances, alleging that young men from a different group were engaging with them in an inappropriate manner.
