Did Eknath Shinde Call Mumbai a Hen That Laid Golden Eggs for Shiv Sena UBT?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Dec 23 (NationPress) Eknath Shinde, the Shiv Sena leader and Deputy Chief Minister, launched a fierce critique against Shiv Sena UBT on Tuesday, claiming that for them, having held power for 25 years, Mumbai represented a hen that laid golden eggs.
He further criticized the opposition, asserting that those implicated in the 'Khichdi' scam, fake Covid centers, and body bag frauds during the pandemic should reflect on their own actions before making accusations against others.
Shinde spoke at a ceremony honoring the newly elected Municipal Council Presidents of Shiv Sena.
He emphasized that the Municipal Council outcomes demonstrate Shiv Sena's growth from 'Chanda to Banda' (throughout Maharashtra). Expressing gratitude to voters for their trust in the 'Bow and Arrow' symbol, he stated,
"Shiv Sena achieved the highest strike rate in the Lok Sabha elections. Our performance in the Assembly elections was also superior to that of other parties. Winning more seats despite contesting fewer is a clear indication of our strong strike rate," he remarked.
Shinde noted that Shiv Sena Council Presidents were elected even in regions where the party lacks an MLA.
"Currently, we have 62 Shiv Sena Council Presidents elected, and we anticipate this number will rise to 70. Notably, 33 of our 'Ladki Bahins' (dear sisters) have secured these positions," he added.
In targeting the opposition, Shinde stated that UBT and MVA had acknowledged their defeat even before the council elections, abandoning their workers.
"The citizens of Maharashtra have made it clear that those who did not engage during their tenure are now permanently sidelined. The count of Shiv Sena Council Presidents alone surpasses the cumulative strength of all three MVA parties. Our connection with the public is unshakeable, and it is impossible to defeat Shiv Sena," he declared.
He expressed confidence that the Mahayuti alliance would succeed in upcoming Municipal Corporation elections.
Reflecting on his term as Chief Minister, Shinde stated, "I responded to opposition's allegations through my actions. The state experienced two and a half years of unwavering service, leading to the Mahayuti winning 232 Assembly seats. Despite resistance to the 'Ladki Bahin' initiative, I upheld my promise. Being recognized as the 'beloved brother' to millions of sisters is my most significant identity."
Shinde recalled the success of the 'Government at Your Doorstep' (Shasan Aaplya Dari) program, which benefited 5.5 crore citizens, and announced a new initiative.
“In honor of Balasaheb Thackeray's birth centenary, the Health Department will introduce the 'Health at Your Doorstep' (Arogya Aaplya Dari) initiative,” he said.
