Mumbai, Feb 19 (NationPress) Shiv Sena President and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde urged party members to prepare for the forthcoming elections to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and other civic and local entities across the state, particularly following the party’s outstanding performance in the Assembly elections.

During the party rally, Shinde encouraged the members to enhance their outreach efforts with voters by highlighting the achievements of the MahaYuti government from June 2022 to November 2024.

“Every ward should have a Shiv Sena ‘shakha’ and a dedicated Shiv Sainik,” he emphasized, urging the members to deliver another decisive blow in the upcoming BMC elections to regain control. “Shiv Sena must further expand and fortify,” Shinde stated.

He directed the workers and office bearers to ensure that 123 names are registered in the voter list as members per ward, aiming to gather over 10,000 members in each area. While not directly naming Uddhav Thackeray, Shinde remarked, “Some individuals raise the issue of separating Mumbai from Maharashtra during elections. However, as long as the sun and moon exist, no one can detach Mumbai from us.”

Deputy CM Shinde mentioned that the government will advocate for stalled redevelopment projects and work to bring back displaced Mumbaikars. By consolidating all governmental efforts such as MHADA, MMRDA, Mahapreet, and MIDC, development initiatives have commenced in Mumbai through clusters like Thane. The government has constructed seven sewage treatment plants in the city.

He added that in the next three to four years, polluted and untreated water entering the sea will be treated, transforming the waters around Mumbai into blue. After taking office as Chief Minister, all roads in Mumbai will undergo reconstruction with concrete in two phases. However, some have reportedly profited Rs 3500 crore under the guise of road repairs.

In his inaugural address in the state Assembly post his Chief Minister appointment in June 2022, he proclaimed that the MahaYuti would secure over 200 seats, or else he would return to his village to farm. “But the cherished sisters, brothers, farmers, and elders of the state voted in large numbers for MahaYuti. The election results revealed the true identity of the Shiv Sena. The people of Maharashtra have sidelined those who made false claims during elections,” he remarked.

The Shiv Sena leader reiterated that alongside 39 legislators, he initiated a revolt in June 2022 to uphold Balasaheb Thackeray’s ideals. He asserted that he adheres to the teachings of Dharmaveer Anand Dighe and accused Uddhav Thackeray’s faction of prioritizing property over Balasaheb's vision.

Shinde clarified that there is no discord among the MahaYuti partners as they collaborate within the government. “There is no cold war; our conflict is against those opposing development,” he stated.

“Balasaheb Thackeray envisioned a magnificent Ram temple in Ayodhya and the abrogation of Article 370 in Kashmir. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have realized that dream, yet you (Uddhav Thackeray) continue to disparage them,” he added.

Meanwhile, several leaders and supporters from Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP(SP) have joined the Shiv Sena.
