Attari, April 26 (NationPress) A heartbreaking scene unfolded at the Attari border on Saturday, where two Indian citizens from Maharashtra anxiously awaited the reunion with their wives and children stranded in Pakistan. Their emotions were caught in a painful tug-of-war between diplomatic tensions and the deep bonds of family.

Vikram Udasi, who traveled from Jalgaon, stood at the border, his eyes filled with hope and his voice laden with helplessness. He came to receive his Pakistani wife and their four-year-old son.

“My son holds an Indian passport, but his mother’s Pakistani passport means she cannot cross without a visa,” Udasi stated. “How can the son come without the mother?” he asked, his voice shaking with despair.

Next to him was Rishi Kumar Jesrani from Kolhapur, whose wife Savita is from Balochistan. Jesrani finds himself in a similar situation. His two sons, both Indian passport holders, are currently trapped in Pakistan.

“I worry that if they are detained at the Pakistani border, they might be perceived as Pakistani citizens,” he said, tears in his eyes.

“We reached out to the Foreign Minister last night, but have yet to receive a response.”

Both families have urgently appealed for government action, requesting that their cases be evaluated on humanitarian grounds. Their ordeal highlights the emotional toll of strained diplomatic relations and border politics.

This troubling situation coincides with escalating bilateral tensions. Following a recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam that resulted in 26 fatalities, India has suspended all visa services for Pakistani nationals and revoked existing visas, including those issued for medical purposes.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Ministry of External Affairs announced that all existing valid visas for Pakistani nationals will be revoked effective Sunday, April 27.

All medical visas issued to citizens from that country will also only be valid until Tuesday, April 29, and all Pakistanis currently in India must depart before their visas expire according to these new deadlines.
