Why Did EPS Expel K A Sengottaiyan from AIADMK?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, Nov 1 (NationPress) The AIADMK's general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami defended the removal of veteran leader K A Sengottaiyan from the party, stating that he acted as a member of the DMK’s 'B team' and consistently undermined the party's interests in recent months.
In comments to the press, Palaniswami emphasized that Sengottaiyan had been associating with expelled members like O Panneerselvam and T T V Dhinakaran, both ousted for anti-party actions.
“He was cautioned multiple times but chose to disregard the party and support individuals who are actively scheming to destabilize the AIADMK. We will not remain passive against anyone opposing our leadership,” he asserted.
The AIADMK leader accused Sengottaiyan of attempting to tarnish the party’s reputation and events.
“He falsely asserted that Jayalalithaa's photo was absent at a party function. Although the organizers clarified the situation, he refused to acknowledge it. At a government event distributing bicycles, he attended despite banners showing late M. Karunanidhi and M.K. Stalin while neglecting our founder M G Ramachandran and Amma (Jayalalithaa). This clearly indicated his role as a B-team member for the DMK,” Palaniswami remarked.
He accused Sengottaiyan of keeping close ties with those expelled by Jayalalithaa.
“For the past six months, he has been overtly working against the AIADMK. He continues to reference individuals removed by Amma, rather than those who left voluntarily. Associating with them constitutes pure treachery,” he stated. Palaniswami reiterated that T T V Dhinakaran lacks the moral authority to comment on the AIADMK.
“Individuals like Dhinakaran, OPS, and Sengottaiyan are conspiring to assist the DMK in retaining power in 2026. They may fantasize about reviving the DMK, but the citizens of Tamil Nadu will not permit that,” he declared.
In conclusion, the AIADMK general secretary stressed that the party's disciplinary measures were both justified and essential.
“When someone betrays the party, silence is not an option. The AIADMK is not anyone’s private entity—it is owned by millions of dedicated cadres who have fought for this movement,” he concluded.
