Mumbai, Jan 26 (NationPress) Actress Esha Deol shared her joy as her late father, Dharmendra, is being awarded the Padma Vibhushan, which is the second-highest civilian honor in the Republic of India.
In her Republic Day message on Instagram, Esha expressed, "Happy Republic Day 🇮🇳 Thrilled that our papa is receiving the esteemed Padma Vibhushan Award (folded hands emoji) (sic)."
The actress, known for her role in 'Dhoom', posted a photo of herself with her half-brother Sunny Deol and sister Ahana Deol, encouraging everyone to watch "Border 2" with their loved ones.
Esha congratulated Sunny and the movie team, stating, "Watch Border 2 with your family and friends! We saw the film last night @iamsunnydeol you're amazing (flexed bicep emoji) Kudos to @ahan.shetty @varundvn @diljitdosanjh @nidhiduttaofficial wonderful work. Salute!"
Previously, veteran actress and politician Hema Malini also expressed gratitude towards the Government of India for honoring her late husband, Dharmendra, with the Padma Vibhushan.
On her X (formerly Twitter) account, she posted, “I’m incredibly proud that the government has acknowledged Dharam ji's significant contributions to the film industry by awarding him the prestigious Padma Vibhushan.”
This Sunday, it was revealed that Dharmendra is to be honored posthumously with the Padma Vibhushan, alongside Satish Shah, who will receive the Padma Shri posthumously.
In addition to these two, other notable figures from the industry who have received Padma Awards include Malayalam superstar Mammootty, who will receive the Padma Bhushan, and actor R Madhavan, who is set to be awarded the Padma Shri.
Both Dharmendra and Satish Shah passed away last year.
Previously, Dharmendra was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in South Mumbai due to breathing issues but was discharged after treatment. However, a few days later, his health worsened, leading to him being placed on a ventilator.
