Mumbai, April 28 (NationPress) Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has criticized Congress Legislature Party leader Vijay Wadettiwar for his remark questioning if 'terrorists have time to inquire about religion before they attack'. “Wadettiwar’s comments are deeply insensitive. By making such a statement, he is rubbing salt into the wounds of the families affected by the Pahalgam terror attack. The tragic events unfolded in front of the victims' loved ones, and Wadettiwar was absent during that crisis. Is this a sign of foolishness or something else?” CM Fadnavis stated.
“The victims' families have shared their experiences, and to distort that narrative is even more insensitive. The families of the victims will not forgive Wadettiwar for his statements. Those who express such opinions are our adversaries and promote a dangerous agenda,” Fadnavis added.
State BJP president and Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule also condemned Wadettiwar, labeling his comments as the peak of insensitivity. “It is evident that Hindus are being targeted in Kashmir. What reality is Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar living in? Who is he attempting to appease by asserting that 'terrorists have no caste or religion'? Are Congress leaders attempting to absolve terrorists?” he questioned.
“Wadettiwar's remarks reveal a repugnant effort to disguise the intentions of terrorists and shield them. This is not just irresponsible; it reflects an anti-national mindset. Every patriotic Indian must denounce Wadettiwar's statement. Congress leaders are exploiting the emotions of Indians, rubbing salt into the wounds and engaging in political games that the public will not forget,” Bawankule contended.
In response to the backlash, Wadettiwar clarified that the primary objective of the Pahalgam terrorist attack is to instigate division between religions, disrupt India's unity, and create instability.
“The strictest measures must be taken against terrorists and their supporters. Congress will back any action the government undertakes. It is crucial to combat such anti-national tendencies for India's integrity and security. India is united and will remain so.”
