Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Feb 22 (NationPress) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday dismissed allegations of corruption concerning the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0, labeling them as politically driven and factually incorrect.
During a press conference following a customary tea meeting and Cabinet meeting on the eve of the state legislature's Budget Session, Fadnavis addressed accusations from opposition parties regarding the solar power initiative's execution.
The Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0 is designed to deliver consistent daytime solar energy to agricultural users by solarizing agricultural feeders, thereby decreasing reliance on traditional electricity sources.
Fadnavis stated that the allegations of a Rs 10,000 crore scam are “mathematically impossible,” asserting that the scheme functions on a private investment basis, where the government compensates solely for the electricity generated instead of incurring upfront capital costs.
He explained that all bank guarantees from the involved companies are authenticated via the Structured Financial Messaging System (SFMS) prior to finalizing contracts.
The Chief Minister emphasized that stringent measures are taken if irregularities are found, including blacklisting firms that breach regulations. He noted that actions have already been taken in some instances raised during the evaluation.
Fadnavis reiterated that the main goal of the initiative is to provide reliable daytime electricity to farmers through solar energy, thus enhancing agricultural productivity and lowering energy expenses.
During the briefing, he also introduced ‘Mahavistar’, an AI-powered platform aimed at overseeing solar feeder installations, ensuring transparency in execution, and facilitating the tracking of energy generation and consumption data.
He stated that this platform would further promote transparency in the bidding and procurement processes associated with the initiative.
The Chief Minister confirmed that the Budget Session of the Maharashtra Legislature would continue as planned, despite opposition protests, and noted that the government was ready to address matters raised during legislative deliberations.
He added that the 2026–27 Budget would prioritize development and public welfare.
Fadnavis also recognized the contributions of former Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar in formulating previous budgets and affirmed the government's commitment to continue building upon existing policy priorities.
