Mumbai, April 24 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, has instructed the administration to ensure that all solar feeder project initiatives are finalized by September 2026 to expedite the rollout of the 'Mukhyamantri Saur Krishi Vahini Yojana 2.0'.

In light of environmental, forest, and security challenges encountered in certain projects, he also mandated the establishment of district-level task forces. This initiative is designed to achieve a target of generating 7000 MW of solar energy, primarily aimed at supplying daytime electricity to farmers.

Maharashtra has already exceeded the Central government’s 100-day objective of 690 MW, reaching 746 MW.

The Chief Minister evaluated the scheme's progress and launched the 'Mukhyamantri Saur Krishi Vahini Yojana 2.0' project management portal.

According to a release from the Chief Minister’s Office, it was noted that projects with a combined capacity of 15,284 MW are in progress, ranking this among the largest decentralized solar initiatives globally, with 1359 MW already completed, benefitting 2.14 lakh farmers.

He instructed that each district should form a task force led by the Collector, with the Superintendent of Police and the CEO of Zilla Parishad as key members, convening monthly to address issues arising in solar projects.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the Forest Department should act promptly to regularize forest land titles provided to tribal farmers. Additionally, the Environment and Forest Departments should draft constructive proposals for eco-friendly solar projects and submit them to the government for quick evaluation.

Furthermore, he directed that developers should not be compelled to re-obtain 'No Objection Certificates' from Gram Panchayats.

“All Collectors and CEOs should proactively assist and resolve any challenges faced by developers. Any political or local obstacles must be tackled decisively, ensuring no bias or favoritism, to maintain the integrity of these projects. Moreover, stamp duty exemptions should apply to privately owned land utilized for solar development,” he stated.

The new 'Project Management Portal' is to be utilized effectively at every stage of the project to guarantee timely and transparent execution.
