New Delhi, Nov 7 (NationPress) Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva and General Secretary and MP Yogendra Chandolia criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday for neglecting the welfare of the Dalit community in the city and engaging in mere optics to deceive the community.

Sachdeva expressed disappointment over AAP leaders frequently invoking the name of Bharat Ratna B.R. Ambedkar in political dialogues solely for their trivial political survival.

“In a decade of AAP governance in Delhi, they have achieved nothing significant aside from renaming 31 Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidhyalaya to B.R. Ambedkar School of Excellence, which have been diminished in value by aligning them with a newly established Delhi Board of School Education,” he stated.

Sachdeva pointed out that the Board lacked credibility, leading some students who completed Class XII there to struggle with admissions to higher education institutions.

“This resulted in a mass exodus of students from these schools,” he remarked.

Sachdeva further alleged that Arvind Kejriwal failed to advance specialized education for underprivileged students, noting that 70 percent of Delhi government schools lacked the capability to teach either science or commerce at the senior secondary level.

Chandolia remarked that AAP leaders should understand that the struggle for Dalit upliftment cannot be achieved merely through displaying photographs of Baba Saheb.

“For a genuine tribute to Baba Saheb, all governments must focus on delivering adequate education, equitable job opportunities, and comprehensive social integration for Dalit students,” he asserted.

Sachdeva challenged AAP leaders to enumerate five initiatives their government has undertaken for the Dalit community in Delhi.

He also referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to enhance the welfare of the community, which included the Panchteerth Development initiative aimed at improving five significant sites related to Ambedkar’s life, such as his birthplace in Mhow, his study location in London, Deeksha Bhoomi in Nagpur, Mahaparinirvan Sthal in Delhi, and Chaitya Bhoomi in Mumbai.

The Delhi BJP chief noted that PM Modi inaugurated an Ambedkar International Centre in Delhi as a homage to the Father of the Indian Constitution.

Other welfare initiatives under PM Modi's leadership include the Babasaheb Ambedkar Awas Navinkaran Yojana, Ambedkar Centres of Excellence in 31 central universities, the Ambedkar Social Innovation and Incubation Mission, and the unveiling of commemorative coins on Ambedkar's 125th birth anniversary, emphasizing Ambedkar's values of social harmony, equality, and justice in governance.

Point of View

It is crucial to observe the ongoing political discourse surrounding the welfare of Dalits in Delhi. The contrasting narratives presented by the BJP and AAP reflect deeper societal issues and government accountability. Engaging in constructive dialogue is essential for progress in Dalit upliftment.
