New Delhi, April 11 (NationPress) In the wake of protests from parents regarding fee increases by certain private schools, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva condemned the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for propagating a false narrative suggesting that the BJP Government is ineffective in controlling fee hikes.
Sachdeva emphasized that, contrary to Arvind Kejriwal’s assertions, the reality is that private school fees in Delhi have been on a steady rise throughout the past decade of AAP governance.
“While there are over 1,650 private schools in Delhi, the Kejriwal administration managed to audit the accounts of only 75 schools in a year. This has allowed nearly all private institutions to significantly increase their fees,” he stated.
Sachdeva accused Kejriwal, former Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, and former Chief Minister Atishi of leveraging social media to disseminate confusion and misinformation regarding private school fee hikes.
“The AAP leaders are tirelessly attempting to construct a false political narrative against the BJP in Delhi. As their propaganda faltered on issues like the Women’s Prosperity Scheme, Ayushman Bharat, and power outages, they have now resorted to the issue of school fee hikes for political gain—but they will not prevail,” he remarked.
He further stated: “During their tenure, they utilized social media to falsely depict success, and now, in opposition, they are misusing both social media and certain media segments to discredit and undermine the current BJP government.”
Regarding a private school in Dwarka, where parents are currently protesting against the fee increase, he mentioned that the issue has been contentious since 2023.
Sachdeva asserted that the Rekha Gupta-led Delhi government has effectively restricted fee increases at private schools and mandated audits for all 1,650+ private schools, halting any further fee hikes.
He reiterated that no school in Delhi is permitted to raise fees without an audit, and any increase will only be authorized if the school is facing financial losses.
He challenged Kejriwal on how, during his administration, most court decisions regarding fee hikes favored private schools.
“Could there have been some form of collusion?” he inquired.
Sachdeva concluded by stating that Kejriwal’s genuine concern is not about fee hikes, but rather the impending exposure of financial exploitation by the School Management Committee members appointed during his administration.
