New Delhi, June 14 (NationPress) Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva criticized AAP leader Manish Sisodia on Saturday for disseminating false information regarding the Rekha Gupta government’s initiatives aimed at curbing arbitrary school fee increases.
Following Sisodia's claims that parents have been seeking assistance just three months after the BJP assumed power, Sachdeva countered that the AAP government, under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, failed to take any significant action to control private schools throughout their decade in office.
He accused them of shedding crocodile tears over critical issues such as education reform and private school fees during their tenure, asserting that they still maintain connections with major private school administrations and are spreading falsehoods about the new fee regulation law instituted by the BJP-led government.
Sachdeva criticized Sisodia for his inability to dismantle the so-called education mafia while he was the education minister.
“What caused the mechanism to be so ineffective following their exit? If legislation was in place, how was it so powerless? The reality is that the Kejriwal-Sisodia administration never established any laws to regulate private schools,” said Sachdeva.
He noted that during Kejriwal’s decade of governance, fees in nearly all private schools surged by two to four times.
Sachdeva highlighted that the BJP government’s promptness in addressing these issues reflects its commitment to students and parents, as evidenced by the introduction of a law within four months to ensure that no private school can increase fees without parental consent.
He remarked that Kejriwal and Sisodia never enforced regulations on private schools or enacted any laws against them.
“Now, with the BJP's introduction of a fee regulation law, AAP is disseminating misinformation on behalf of large private school interests,” he stated.
Sachdeva pointed out that the BJP government has established 11-member committees, including five parents, in every private school to scrutinize fee hikes.
Schools are permitted to increase fees only if the committee reaches a unanimous decision, he explained.
Sachdeva urged Sisodia to cease acting in favor of private school interests and instead address the inquiries from the Anti-Corruption Branch regarding the classroom construction scandal that occurred during his administration.
