New Delhi, April 4 (NationPress) A fraudulent organization that was "recruiting" unsuspecting job seekers for various positions in the Department of Rural Development has been prosecuted and its website taken offline, as reported to Parliament on Friday.
The Minister of State for Rural Development, Kamlesh Paswan, revealed in a written response in the Rajya Sabha that the department recently identified a counterfeit entity called the National Rural Development and Recreation Mission (NRDRM), which was masquerading as a government body.
This bogus organization solicited applications from candidates for various roles by utilizing content similar to that found on the official website of the department, according to the MoS.
Upon recognizing the issue, the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), under the Ministry of Home Affairs, was requested to take down the deceptive NRDRM websites. The I4C successfully removed all related websites from the internet.
A disclaimer has been published on the ministry's website regarding this fake organization, and the public has been warned through a notice about the fraudulent NRDRM websites and their bogus recruitment efforts. The department has also filed a First Information Report (FIR) concerning this matter, stated Paswan.
The MoS emphasized that all recruitment for permanent positions from Group 'A' to 'C' in the Department of Rural Development is conducted through the appropriate Cadre Controlling Authorities and designated recruitment agencies, such as the Union Public Service Commission and Staff Selection Commission.
He added that all departmental schemes are executed through the State Governments and Union Territories (UTs), with field employees recruited by the respective state governments.
To facilitate immediate action against fraudsters, the department has appointed a Nodal Officer under the Information Technology Act, 2000 (21 of 2000) and the Information Technology (Guidelines for Intermediaries and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, responsible for issuing notices to intermediaries.
The Nodal Officer will address any information that is prohibited under existing laws related to this department.
