Noida, March 6 (NationPress) Thirteen staff members of a fraudulent call center in Noida have been apprehended for deceiving individuals by pretending to promote products on social media and offering distributor opportunities. The Noida Police disclosed this information to the press on Thursday.

The individuals taken into custody consist of 10 men and three women, while the call center's director, Mayank Tiwari, remains at large. Authorities are actively pursuing him, according to sources.

As part of the investigation, police have confiscated 10 laptops, two computers, 10 mobile phones, a printer, cheque books, and additional documents from the suspects.

The gang's modus operandi involved reaching out to manufacturers from various states, guaranteeing to promote their products on social media and recruit distributors. However, they consistently failed to honor these commitments, as explained by the police.

To prevent immediate backlash or legal repercussions, the criminals specifically targeted individuals from distant states.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Central Noida), Shakti Mohan Avasthy, stated that a team from the Sector 63 police station, alongside local intelligence, uncovered the operation, which was being conducted under the name 'Distributor Channel Bharat' located in G-65, G Block, Sector-63.

Further elaborating, the DCP noted that the suspects enticed customers by presenting packages promising 8 to 10 distributors across numerous states along with social media promotion for their products, charging fees ranging from Rs 3 to 4 lakh per package.

No actual services were rendered, leaving customers without options as the perpetrators operated chiefly from other states to avoid detection.

A fraud complaint amounting to Rs 4.86 lakh has been lodged by a man from Jammu, the DCP reported.

The investigation is ongoing to find the absent director.

Authorities have formed and dispatched police teams to various localities based on available intelligence.
