Fraudulent Call Center Shutdown in Gurugram, Three Individuals Detained

Gurugram, Dec 4 (NationPress) A fraudulent call center deceiving US citizens by pretending to provide technical assistance was shut down in Sector-39, Gurugram on Wednesday.

Following a tip-off, a team spearheaded by ACP (Cybercrime) Priyanshu Diwan conducted a raid at the call center located at plot number 684, Durga Colony.

During this operation, law enforcement apprehended three suspects, including the operator of the call center, and confiscated a mobile phone, two laptops, and various other electronic devices.

The individuals arrested have been identified as Amandeep Singh alias Prince (34), Palvender Singh (25), and Eishav Ghai (25), all hailing from New Delhi.

Amandeep Singh, the proprietor of the fraudulent call center, had hired Palvender and Eishav with a salary of Rs 35,000 and a 1 percent commission.

During the raid, the police observed the suspects engaged in conversations with US nationals.

“We received precise information about a fake call center that has defrauded numerous US citizens under the pretext of offering technical support. The individuals were working at this center, which operated without a valid license from the Department of Telecommunications (DOT),” stated Priyanshu Diwan, ACP (Cyber Crime).

“Upon interrogation, the suspects disclosed that they communicated with US citizens to deliver technical support and customer service, charging between $100 and $500 via E-Gift redeem cards. The arrested individuals had been running this operation since August,” he added.

“The investigation is ongoing. The possibility of additional accomplices is not excluded. The suspects are currently in police custody for further questioning,” the police official mentioned.

An FIR has been filed under the pertinent sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Cyber Crime South Police Station.
