Mumbai, Oct 13 (NationPress) Farhan Akhtar has shared that a handwritten letter from Amitabh Bachchan, which the legendary actor sent him following his viewing of Dil Chahta Hai, stands as the most esteemed accolade for the filmmaker, actor, and singer.
This revelation occurred during Big B's 83rd birthday festivities on the set of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season, where Farhan and Javed Akhtar occupied the hotseat for a segment of the quiz-based reality show.
In the episode, Farhan expressed his heartfelt sentiment: "We are all aware of your (Big B) passion for writing letters. In my office, there's a dedicated area where I showcase all my film accolades."
"And right there, next to them, I have placed your letter — the one you penned to me after watching Dil Chahta Hai. To me, that letter is the most prestigious award of all. Thank you so much," he added.
In response, the iconic actor mentioned that he has known Farhan since he was a young boy.
"And then, all of a sudden, you were directing, crafting films, and introducing something so refreshing to Indian cinema. Dil Chahta Hai was undeniably a game-changer. I was astounded — this boy who was raised around us is now creating such remarkable cinema! I simply had to write to you," he noted.
During the same episode, Big B revisited the magic of his 1973 film Zanjeer alongside veteran screenwriter Javed Akhtar.
He recited the famous lines: "Jab tak baithne ko na kaha jaaye sharafat se khade raho; yeh police station hai; tumhare baap ka ghar nahi".
Zanjeer is an action crime film directed and produced by Prakash Mehra and penned by Salim–Javed. The movie features Jaya Bhaduri, Pran, Ajit Khan, and Bindu.
This film marked the beginning of numerous collaborations between Salim Khan, Javed Akhtar, and Big B. Following Zanjeer, Salim–Javed wrote several scripts with Bachchan in the lead role and insisted on casting him in later projects, including massive hits like Deewaar and Sholay, solidifying Amitabh's status as a superstar.
The narrative follows Vijay, an inspector who is suspended from duty, as he seeks to avenge his parents' murders. With the assistance of a street-smart girl and a former enemy turned ally, he devises a plan for revenge.
The show is broadcasted on Sony Entertainment Television and Sony LIV.
